Unravel – a fantastic day out

I have been looking forward to Unravel for months.  Not only is it  a fantastic show to go to but it also fell on my birthday this year which means I had money to spend. When we arrived there were little flurries of snow and it was really cold, but the contrast inside was quite amazing.  After visiting just 2 stands we had to go outside and start to shed layers – there were so many happy people inside.

My first purchase of the day was some hanks of the wonderful Knit by Numbers yarn which is destined for this patternby Steve Plummer of Woolly Thoughts.

Next on to Fyberspates – Jeni’s new hand dyed yarn from Peru was on show, called Vivacious.  I can’t decide whether to weave this or knit it using a linen stitch to make the most of the colours.

.

Bought some Ronaldsay yarn for a new hat for my DH from Sheepfold

Skein Queen is a real favourite of mine and this yarn called Oasis Grande is so sexy.  I am going to knit JuJu Vail’s Pop Spots shawl.

I bought some angora from Bigwigs to knit some gloves from.  I want ones that fit just right to make the most of the softness, so will probably use Knuckle Down Mitts pattern.

Stocked up on cards from Tilly Flop because you can never have too many.

I really enjoyed the talk that Sasha Kagan gave  a wonderful trip back in time and great tips on how to do intarsia.
It was just lovely to catch up with everyone and the day flew by. Can’t wait to cast on some of my buys.

  1. Fab yarn purchases. I saw you from afar on Saturday but didn't get the chance to say Hello. Hope you had a great time.

  2. It was wonderful. I could have bought something on every stall!!
