A few years ago I was lucky enough to travel to TNNA – the big yarn show in Columbus Ohio – and met the team from Malabrigo yarns. I was fascinated to hear about how they put their yarns and colours together. If you are interested you can read more about the company here.
I was really taken by the softness of the yarns and their depth of colour. While I love the variegated yarns, it is the semi-solid colours I come back to time and again, especially Malabrigo lace. It is a roving yarn so sometimes you catch your needle in it but the effect when it is knitted up is worth the effort.
It takes me ages to settle on the right project for this yarn because it takes a bit of cabling and texture so well. When I saw Loden by Irina Dmitrieva for Brooklyn Tweed I knew immediately it was the right pattern for this glorious yellow.
The project was cast on back in October 2015, when I visited my brother in Australia. As part of my pledge to finish some of my WIPs during 2016 I completed it this weekend (with the help of a few episodes of Game of Thrones) and it is currently ‘relaxing’ next to me on my blocking mat.
A wonderful yarn and a very satisfying knit.
